The ratchet thimble mechanism of the Mitutoyo Digimatic digital micrometer ensures a constant measuring force on the spindle for accurate, repeatable measurements. When measuring a wide range of varied dimensions, the combination of the ratchet thimble and speeder allows either faster spindle feed or easier one-handed measurements. The ratchet mechanism produces an audible click to guarantee that the measurement is carried out at the pre-set force. On an LCD readout, measurement data are shown in inches and metric. Carbide-tipped measuring tips resist wear and provide higher accuracy over time.
