A torque multiplier is a device that enhances the amount of torque that an operator can apply. When it comes to applying higher torques, torque wrench design only has two options: either increase the load at the handle or increase the lever length. Both of these ideas clearly have practical and safety limitations. Norbar's approach is to employ a HandTorque® multiplier, a small epicyclic gearbox that properly multiplies the input torque from a torque wrench by a predetermined ratio.
