They are composed of a Vernier scale, which enables accurate readings between the graduations on the main scale, and a main scale with units of measurement like millimeters or inches. There are several types of instruments for producing extremely exact linear measurements, including vernier callipers, dial callipers, and digital callipers. Vernier callipers are frequently used for quality control measures in industrial and scientific facilities. Vernier callipers are used to measure very small lengths since they have two scales: the normal scale and the vernier scale.
